Corel PHOTO-PAINT is a bitmap-based image editing and painting program. It is ideal for retouching photographs, editing images, and for creating original artwork. Bitmaps are images that consist of individual pixels arranged in patterns, much like the picture on a television screen. These images tend to offer greater subtleties of color, but require more memory and take longer to print. PHOTO-PAINT allows you to make subtle changes in bitmap images by changing lighting, sharpening the focus and repairing imperfections. More drastic changes, such as removing people and things, swapping details between images, adding text and objects, adjusting color, colorizing black-and-white and gray-scale images, splicing movies, and applying unique combinations of special effects can also be accomplished.
